How to vote for the Sasquatch Award:

1. Read!

  • Students will read, or have read to them, at least two titles in order to vote. The award is designed for grades 3-6. As background to reading, the Sasquatch Committee has prepared the 2008 book annotations (.doc)

  • 2008 Ballot (.doc)

2. Vote by email or mail.

  • Ballots must be received by April 1, 2009.

  • Email the ballot to Jody Davis at jdavis@ci.everett.wa.us or mail it to her at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Avenue, Everett, WA 98201.

  • The results will be posted on the WLMA web page as soon as they are announced.

3. Publicize the Award in your school.

    • Sasquatch stickers and posters for the 2009 Reading Award may be ordered. (order form)

    • Posters will be given away free at the fall conference.

    • Bookmarks with a cover of the book and the Sasquatch Award nominee reminder in Publisher and Adobe Acrobat Reader Bookmarks 1 ( pub, pdf) Bookmarks 2 ( pub, pdf ) Bookmarks 3 ( pub, pdf) Bookmarks ( pub, .pdf )

How to nominate titles for the 2010 list:

  • Nominations may be made by students, teachers, or librarians.

  • Nominations for the 2010 list must have 2006-2007 copyright.

  • Nomination deadline for the 2010 list is January 15, 2009.

  • An annual list of books representing the reading/interest level of the intermediate reader will be nominated. This list may include non-fiction and fiction.

  • The nominating committee will include a statewide representation of librarians who will seek and use input from young readers in developing the annual ballot list.

  • Nominations will be accepted beginning September 1, 2008. Early nominations will be discussed at the WLMA conference in October 2008. Final ballot suggestions must be submitted to the committee by January 15, 2009.

  • Send nominations to be considered for the 2010 list with an explanation of why it should be considered, by e-mail to Carol Blake
