Analyzing Sources for Citizenship: Connecting WLMA with the Social Studies CBAs
To ensure that students become engaged, informed citizens and are meeting the state's social studies standards the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction has developed "classroom-based" assessment models (CBAs) for social studies. These classroom-based assessments provide critical feedback regarding what students should know and be able to do in civics, history, geography, and economics in an inquirt based process.
This workshop will provide participants with not only an overview of these CBAs but also an opportunity to explore ways in which these assessments might facilitate collaboration between WLMA and the state's social studies community. |

SWIFT Teacher Web Publishing
An interactive website is one of the most effective tools you can use to keep students, parents, and staff involved. However, creating and updating web pages can be complicated and time-consuming.
SWIFT (Simplified Web Interface for Teachers) is an online website management tool used to design a comprehensive site in minutes - without learning computer languages or new software programs. Post announcements, add documents and resource links, start a discussion, create practice quizzes, and more. The built-in modules are easy to use, so the focus is on the content instead of the technicalities of site construction. Each participant will leave this session with a customized and easy-to-edit SWIFT website and a one year subscription. |
Library Marketing
To provide library staff with a strong understanding of marketing, advocacy, and media relations, the State Library, in conjunction with WLMA, is sponsoring a dynamic, full-day pre-conference workshop to explore new principles, participate in hands-on experiences, and learn valuable tips for ensuring your library is visible, effective and well-funded! |
